The cost of each workshop is £25. Existing students may use 2 of their tickets towards the cost, i.e. £10. Please bring a light packed lunch, your mat (if you have one), a blanket etc. Props will be available for your use. Herbal and decaffeinated tea and coffee, water and juice, ‘healthy’ biscuits and cake will be provided!

THE PRINCIPLES OF YOGA

This is suitable for beginners and those who started yoga learning in the last 6 months. It may serve as a refresher if you have been away from yoga for a while. The day will revisit the principles covered in the first 12 classes and help you to structure your own personal practice.
- BREATH - it's importance in yoga
- SAFETY and awareness (Ahimsa)
- PEACE - in practice and stilling the mind
- ENERGY - using the energy around us
- HEALING - how yoga can heal the mind, body and spirit
- MEDITATION in movement and stillness (Dhyana)
- CONCENTRATION (Dharana)
- VISUALISATION – experience the poses
- BALANCE- counterposes, improving concentration, yin and yang
- HATHA - its meaning, the sun and moon salutations
- PRANAYAMA - (Breathing exercises)
A minimum of 8 people will be required to run each workshop, so please register within 4 weeks of the course date, so that the hire of the room can be confirmed at that time.

This workshop is for those who have been practising yoga for at least 9 months. It is assumed that you know how to get in and out of the postures safely and correctly. It would be suitable if you have practiced before but maybe not for some time, as this workshop would give you the opportunity to ‘catch up’ with the intermediate level, Thursday class. This is a physically challenging, energizing and rewarding workshop which will work every muscle in the body through an intermediate-level sequence of poses in each of the major posture groups:-
STANDING - SEATED - KNEELING - PRONE - SUPINE
The day will finish with some uplifting chants and a rejuvenating and relaxing yoga nidra

Sun and Moon Salutation
Surya/Chandra Namaskara

A day dedicated to the graceful, breath-driven flow of Surya and Chandra Namaskara, the Sun and Moon Salutation, in the Satyananda and Hatha traditions. We will take a look at the background to the practice and its symbolic and spiritual significance. We will explore its many physical and subtle benefits and learn the beautiful mantras associated with each movement and pose. There will also be time to explore some other variations in the Ashtanga style and some variations of Julie’s own!
The salutations are a useful home practice which can take only a few minutes a day. It is ideal for busy yogis who have little time for exercise and breath-awareness or meditation. Sun salutation serves as a great start to any yoga practice by stretching and warming the whole body and it is ideal for weight loss. Moon salutations will help to relax and calm the mind and body and restore balance to both. With both practices the body and mind are treated to one of the most systematic and comprehensive forms of exercise and moving meditation known to man.
This will serve as an excellent workshop for those who would like to deepen their practice. It will also be ideal for those who would like to move into the Improver's class on Thursday evenings in Lutterworth. If you have been finding beginners less than challenging lately, please consider this workshop. It will give you the confidence to make the move smoothly.
There will also be a full moon on this weekend! What better energies do we need to enjoy this practice! We’ll be learning a very different and more comprehensive moon salutation to the one previously taught in classes.
