karma yoga is available for those who would like to help out around the retreat in exchange for shared accommodation, healthy vegetarian food and drinks
however it's much more than work - it's a meditation
this 'yoga of selfless service' offers a unique opportunity to perform everyday tasks in a contemplative and meditative way, surrounded by tranquility, nature and a sacred space
silence (mouna) can be supported and is encouraged at times to allow the practice to deepen
the aspirants will have the full spiritual support of the residents, teachers and peers and any concerns and questions will be dealt with in a kind, nuturing and compassionate way
one can attain higher levels of awareness and consciousness through this practice and will learn a wonderful technique which can be done at home or at work, on and off the mat
typical tasks would be:-
house cleaning using natural or eco-friendly products
food preparation and clearing away
gardening and property maintenance
office duties and paperwork
karma yogis are also welcome to attend yoga/asana classes and evening satsang, kiirtan and any other group practice when these are held, without further payment
there will be plenty of time for self-practice of asana, meditation or quiet contemplation
this is ideal for travelling yogis, students who have a deep interest in yoga or anyone who would like to be a part of the chinmayi retreat and it's day-to-day organisation
cost only £15 per day
in order to plan the retreats efficiently, all stays should be booked and paid for 1 month in advance
refunds cannot be given within one month of the start date, except in exceptional circumstances
