HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR YOGA CLASS
- Wear loose clothing, you should feel comfortable throughout the class
- Bring a blanket, cushion or quilt with you for relaxation if you like
- Practice asana with bare feet. This is not only for safety but allows your toes and the muscles in your feet to move freely. Bring socks for relaxation
- Avoid a main meal within 3 hours before a class or a snack within 2 hours
- Drink water/herbal tea 2 hours before a class and sip water during the class if thirsty, especially in hot weather
- Alcohol should be avoided completely on the day of a class
- It is advisable to use a yoga mat especially on hard floors for comfort and safety. You may be able to borrow one in class, but please bring a towel to cover the mat for hygiene
- Be on time. You will be able to relax more easily and make the most of your yoga time. It's only fair not to disturb others by being late
- If you are menstruating and in the first 3 days of your cycle, avoid inversions. This is where the hips are higher than chest level. It is not dangerous but can make your period heavier for a while

a. feel/have felt unwell
b. are taking any new medication
